#1. Emergency Response to Suicide.

We can provide emotional support to the family and community in the immediate aftermath of a suicide. A tragedy like suicide has a traumatic and far-reaching impact; be it a school community, a sporting club or a neighbourhood. Our team is available to support when needed. Please contact us for more information.

#2. Counselling & Support.

Our professional, qualified therapists provide counselling to members of the community who contact us directly or are referred to the service. We work with the individual to provide the best support possible depending on their needs. Our approach is based on face-to-face talk therapy.

Play Therapy for Children affected by Bereavement and Loss.

This is for children aged 3-12 years. Play Therapy is an effective form of therapy for children with a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties including depression, anxiety, aggression and issues relating to difficult life experiences such as abuse, bereavement and loss, family breakdown / separation, domestic violence and trauma.

Children use play as a form of communication in everyday life. In Play Therapy children use play to express themselves. Children enter into a dynamic relationship with the play therapist, which enables them to express, explore and make sense of their difficult and painful life experiences.

Adolescent Therapy.

We have therapists who work specifically with adolescents aged 13-17 years. Adolescence can be a time for growth, opportunity and excitement for young people. But it can also be a period of self-doubt, insecurity and isolation. For many, adolescence is a demanding period of life, where changes take place socially, physically, and mentally. The feeling of not fitting in, not being good enough and concerns about relationships are commonly reported issues among adolescents that use our service. This, in some instances, can manifest itself in anxiety, stress, self-harm and suicide ideation.

Through therapy, we provide support and help to the adolescent by identifying the difficulties that are being experienced, the causes behind it and by providing the means to resolve it.

Adult Therapy.

We all face challenges in life from time to time. Our qualified professionals therapists work with you to enable you to explore thoughts, beliefs, feelings and issues that are having a negative impact on your life.

Through the counselling and psychotherapy process you are given the support and safety to explore, understand and, often, to change these thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours.

Family Therapy.

Our service offers a holistic approach to mental health. We believe in supporting the whole family when someone is affected by suicidal ideation, bereavement and severe mental health difficulties.

Our therapists work with the individual and family to provide a wraparound support service especially during times of crisis.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

CBT is based on the concept that how we think, how we act, how we feel and what we experience in our bodies all interact together.

It is a collaborative, practical and problem oriented approach to emotional problems whereby the client and therapist work together toward understanding difficulties in terms of the relationship between thoughts, feelings, body responses and behaviour. CBT is effective for a wide range of emotional problems from relationship problems, substance abuse, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia, anxiety, depression, compulsive gambling and eating disorders.

Our therapist enables the person to discover that he or she is capable of changing specific negative thoughts and behaviours.

Everyone is welcome through the door of Teac Tom. You will meet with one of our Support & Referral team who can provide a listening ear within a confidential and supportive setting.

#5 Mobile Support Unit

Our Mobile support vehicle was sponsored by Boston Scientific - this allows the Teac Tom team to visit a community where a suicide has occurred.

We have 6 counsellors that will travel and provide support to individuals and families.  This is an invaluable service connecting with the community and providing ongoing care..

Clinical Governance.

We abide by all statutory regulations including the Children First Act 2015, in the provision of our services. Each of our counsellors undergoes regular clinical supervision. Our core therapists are accredited members of a recognised national counselling body and are supported by a team of trainee therapists. We follow the QuADS (Quality in Alcohol and Drugs Services) framework to ensure a quality and professional service is delivered.
